How to maintenance of lens and mirror of Co2 laser

Today we will share some info about the maintenance of lens and mirror of Co2 laser.

The lens and mirror is the transmission carrier of laser cutting machine, it is a vital component for the operation of the whole machine.But you should also know that Laser lenses have lifetime. In order to reduce costs, reasonable maintenance and prolonging lens and mirror lifetime is important.

The laser lens is divided into two types: mirror and focusing lens.
The mirror is used to change the laser transmission path, and the focus lens is to integrate the laser into a point with strong energy and fine spot for laser work;
The mirror have molybdenum material and silicon,two kind materials；the focusing lens is ZnSe (zinc arsenide) material. No matter mirror and focus lens,their maintenance method is same.

Here are three major points for maintenance
1.Laser lens is relatively fragile. It must be careful during disassembly and assembly. Even in the process of transportation, it has strict protection measures. The laser lens is coated with various substances which is sensitive for water, oil and dust.So it is required to work on the oil-free and dry environment during operating machine. Do not directly touch the lens with your hands,to avoid the oil of the skin damage to the lens. So we can take the lens by the gloves or clip , picked up along the non-optical side.
2.In general, the laser machine should be cleaned before and after use, including lens and mirror. We recommend using an amplification device for inspection. In addition to the magnifying device, we can also use a relatively bright light to illuminate the optical surface, which makes it easier to find the dirt and defects on the surface of the lens. It is found that the laser lens is not clean and should be cleaned in time. It can be wiped with alcohol.

3.It should regularly clean the lens and mirror. We recommends that the lens be cleaned once in two days, and the reflective mirror should be cleaned once a week. This can effectively improve the usage rate. If the lens is cleaned several times,still not meet the requirements for use,,we suggest replace the lens.

In summary, good habits and correct cleaning and maintenance are two major factors that prolong lifetime of laser lenses. We try our best to make the lenses work for long time, but once it has problem,we should replace new one, otherwise it will affect the production. .

Important tips for Laser Etching Glass

Laser engraving machine can engrave on the surface of the glass, but the engraving depth is not very deep,and it can’t cut glass. In general,the laser can form a frosting or breaking effect on the surface of the glass.

In generally, laser engraving glass technology is used on laser engraving art glass. By sticking a layer of adhesive on the glass, By sticking a layer of adhesive on the glass, the laser engraving machine directly engraves the imprint on the sticker, so that it can be directly coated on the inprint. .

It can also be combined with the sand blasting machine. After carving, the blasting machine is used to continue the deep carving, then the carving depth can be deeper. Compared to traditional art glass making, laser engraving machine technology can save time and production costs.

Usually the user wants to get the effect of frosting instead of breaking. The key depends on the texture of the glass and whether the hardness is consistent. Glass engraving is usually difficult to control.

Follow the steps which can make a smoother matte result:

1. Apply a little detergent on the carved.

2. Cut a piece of newspaper or napkin,which should be slightly larger than the area to be engraved, completely soak the paper with water, squeeze out excess water, and place the wet paper in the engraved area to avoid wrinkling.

3. Place the glass in the laser engraving machine and engrave when the paper is still wet.

4. Remove the glass, remove the remaining paper, and clean the glass surface.

If necessary, lightly polish the glass surface with a 3M Scotch Brite. In general, the laser power setting should be smaller, the accuracy is set at 300dpi, and the engraving speed is faster. Try to use large-size lenses for engraving.

When laser-engraved lead-containing crystals should be doubled, the lead-containing crystals have different coefficients of expansion than ordinary crystals, which may cause crystal cracks or breakage during engraving. A smaller power setting can avoid this problem, but you should always be on the lookout for a break. After the engraving, the surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth and colored with acrylic paint.
